A variable displacement rotary compressor is provided to form a sealed chamber at a rear part of a vane guide groove and directly connect the sealed chamber to a connection pipe of a vane controller, thereby simplifying the structure of the vane controller and carrying out reliable vane control. A variable displacement rotary compressor comprises a vane guide groove(44) having a sealed chamber(46) for receiving a rear end of a vane(43), and a vane controller(60) having a connection pipe(61) connected to a flange(36) of a compression element(30), so that the connection pipe is directly connected to the sealed chamber for applying suction or discharge pressure to the sealed chamber.
