The meter has a generator unit (113) that is provided for generating a transmitting signal (107), and a control unit (103) that is provided for controlling the generator unit. The generator unit is conducted for generating different transmitting power of the transmitting signal. The generator unit comprises two oscillators (101, 102) for producing respective oscillator signals (114, 115). The control unit is conducted for selectively controlling the oscillators. A damper is provided for adjusting a damping of the oscillator signal (114), and is controlled by the control unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for measuring a liquid level in a reservoir.
