The cover is for the nozzles face of an inking head during idle periods, having a housing with an opening to bring this face into contact with covering material. The latter is mounted movably on a core in the housing, so as to produce a clean covered zone. A first wiper is included, also a second one in the form of a cleaning cushion, both bearing under slight pressure against the covering material, which is moved by a drive. The cleaning cushion (7) is impregnated with a moistening agent and has a number of wiper edges. A wiper (14) bears against the covering material (5) behind the cleaning cushion and before the contact point (27) between the cover zone (17) and nozzle face (18) when seen in the direction of rotation of the covering material.
