<p>The unit has a drive rotor (36) that is provided with an electromagnet (40). The rotor is driven by a drive section of a motor vehicle in a mechanically coupled manner. An internal rotor (20) is provided with a permanent magnet (24), where the internal rotor is mechanically coupled with a crankshaft (14) of a compressor. The internal rotor is driven by the drive rotor using magnetic force. A separating hood (26) is arranged between the drive rotor and the internal rotor. A drive pulley (52) is mechanically coupled with the drive rotor for load transmission. An independent claim is also included for a method for driving a compressor of a drive unit.</p>
