<p>The device (1) has a wheel rotation sensor (3) for determining actual rotation speed of a wheel. A propulsion detection unit (2) detects actual propulsion of a vehicle independent of the wheel movement. An evaluation unit (4) is connected with the sensor and the unit (2). The evaluation unit determines an actual longitudinal slippage based on a difference between the actual propulsion and apparent propulsion that is determined from the wheel rotation speed. The evaluation unit determines an actual frictional coefficient between the wheel and a track system from the actual slippage. An independent claim is also included for a method for automatic determination of coefficient of friction.</p> |
