Gliding ratio calculations for gliders have been previously carried out on the basis of an idealised performance curve. This performance curve is changed both by meteorological and flight-physical influences. These facts are met in that the starting point for gliding ratio calculations is formed by a performance curve actually flown. To approach the ideal as closely as possible, gliding ratios of previous flight sections flown can be mixed with the current gliding ratio of the instantaneous flight section.
