INVERTER CIRCUIT, BACKLIGHT DEVICE, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

An inverter circuit, a backlight unit, and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) using the backlight unit are provided to make it possible to detect whether an abnormal state such as high voltage discharge occurs between a wire which is positioned between a secondary coil of an inverter transformer and a discharge tube, and an another wire. A plurality of inverter transformers(901) supply AC voltages to a plurality of discharge tubes. The inverter transformers are arranged so that AC high voltages of secondary coils for the inverter transformers have opposite polarities. A plurality of balance transformers(601-610) have primary coils respectively. Each of the primary coils for the balance transformers is inserted in series between a ground-sided terminal of the secondary coil for each of the inverter transformers and the ground. Secondary coils of the balance transformers are connected in series to form a loop. One node of the loop is grounded, and a voltage detection node(502) is formed on the loop. At least one of the secondary coils of the balance transformers is interposed between the grounded node of the loop and the voltage detection node.
