An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to improve viewing angle, symmetry of the viewing angle, and brightness, by forming an optical sheet to have a prism pattern, of which an edge direction is substantially the same as a rubbing direction of an alignment layer. An LCD panel is positioned above a backlight assembly for emitting light. The LCD panel includes at least one alignment layer. Optical sheets(141) are interposed between the backlight assembly and the LCD panel. A prism pattern is formed on one surface of one of the optical sheets, wherein the prism pattern focuses the light emitted from the backlight assembly. An edge direction(BEF) of the prism pattern is substantially the same as a rubbing direction(R) of the alignment layer. Upper and lower containers receive the backlight assembly, the optical sheets, and the LCD panel.
