A cathode ray tube is provided to suppress effectively fragments of a tube and reduce stress of a funnel by forming a protrusion at a predetermined position of the funnel. A phosphor screen is formed on an inner surface of a panel(10). A funnel is connected to the panel. A deflection unit is installed in the funnel. A neck is connected to the funnel. An electron gun is installed in the neck. A preventing agent(50) is used for suppressing scattering of fragments due to a breakdown of a tube. A supporting protrusion(28) is protruded from a predetermined position of the funnel in order to support the preventing agent.
