PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner capable of sufficiently removing dust attached to a filter. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner comprises a negative pressure chamber 51 communicating with a dust collection chamber, an atmospheric pressure chamber 52 communicating with the atmosphere, a partition wall 50 dividing the negative pressure chamber 51 and the atmospheric pressure chamber 52 to be displaced according to the difference in the pressure between the negative pressure chamber and the atmospheric pressure chamber, a spring SP for biasing the partition wall 50 to the atmospheric pressure chamber side, a beating member 60 disposed in the dust collection chamber or at the position facing the dust collection chamber for beating the dust collection filter 19, and a shaft member 56 to be moved by interlocking with the displacement of the partition wall 50. As the shaft member 56 is moved to collide with the beating member 60 when an electric blower is stopped, the impact is applied to the beating member 60 and the dust attached to the dust collection filter 19 is removed. The vacuum cleaner also has a rotating member 100 to be rotated by the movement of the shaft member 56, and time lag is generated in the period from the start of movement of the shaft member 56 till the collision with the beating member 60 by rotating the rotating member 100.
