PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gravure ink cell shape measuring device which can automatically distinguish between a contemplated proper connection by a channel and a connection to be restored because of the cut of a bank due to a trouble with an engraving machine etc., with regard to the adjacent cells of the gravure, and a gravure ink cell shape measuring method. SOLUTION: In an image obtained by picking up an image of a plurality of arrays of cells formed on the surface of the gravure, the width of the cell is detected in a printing direction and a connection part is detected as a part where the width is smallest, then the opening area of the cell extracted as a boundary between the bank and the detected connection part, is calculated, and a bank cut part is detected by the fact that the calculated opening area exceeds a reference opening area by a specified range. When the bank cut part is detected, its existence is indicated and when the bank cut part is not detected, a parameter representing the cell shape concerning the cell is extracted.
