PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sustain the detection precision of a detected article over a long term in an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The operating section 21 of a management device 20 acquires predetermined data and threshold data from an external apparatus (image forming apparatus) through a communicating section 25. Subsequently, the operating section 21 compares the difference (V<SB>1</SB>-Th<SB>1</SB>) between the acquired data and threshold data with a determined value (d<SB>1</SB>). When the difference is smaller than a determined value, the operating section 21 performs processing for updating the threshold data and transmits the updated data to the external apparatus through the communicating section 25.
