PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a compression ignition internal combustion engine, preventing the worsening of a combustion condition by securing a desired exhaust gas amount when introducing EGR gas (exhaust gas) from the other cylinder via a second passage by opening a second exhaust valve in transition from an intake stroke to a compression stroke. SOLUTION: The control device for the compression ignition internal combustion engine calculates a required EGR amount (an exhaust gas amount) to be introduced from a first cylinder to a second cylinder via an EGR special passage (the second passage) in accordance with the operated condition of the internal combustion engine (S18), detects actual pressure in the EGR special passage (S20), calculates a reference value for the pressure (S22), compares the detected actual pressure with the calculated reference value (S24), and controls the pressure in the EGR special passage when a difference therebetween is a predetermined value or greater (S26).
