PURPOSE:To improve the performance of fuel cell by interrupting for a while or reducing the concentration of at least a kind of reaction gases to be supplied so as to vary the electrode potential. CONSTITUTION:Detecting the pressure of each block by a voltage detector 2, provided that any block voltage is lower than a set value, an anode gas switch lever 4 turns over from hydrogen-rich gas to nitrogen by the indication of a controller 3 and simultaneously a main load switch 7 is cut to turn on a load circuit switch 6. The fuel cell continues the power generation in a hydrogen-less state. Keeping the state for about 1-5min, the anode gas switch lever 4 actuates to send hydrogen-rich gas to the fuel cell 1. When the performance of the cell 1 is recovered, the load circuit switch 6 is cut and the main load switch is turned on. |
