摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device, in which the pixels forming four colors are located by thoroughly considering the influence of the locations of the pixels on visual characteristics, and to provide a pixel location designing method for determining the locations of the pixels. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device displays an image by using display pixels, with each display pixel having one set of four sub-pixels corresponding to different colors. In the display pixel, the four sub-pixels are configured such that the sub-pixel having a smallest level of chroma is located at the edge of the display pixel, and the two sub-pixels, having smallest difference in color components, are not arranged adjacent to each other. With this configuration, color component errors occurring in display images can be reduced, and the color breakup phenomenon recognized under visual observation can be reduced.
