<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas generator composition which produces flue gas containing low amounts of carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxide, has a low combustion temperature and shows a high flammability. <P>SOLUTION: The gas generator composition contains a compound which has a kick-off temperature of 170°C and is obtained by reacting urea and a metal salt in a molten or dissolved state. Preferably, the mixing ratio of urea to the metal salt is from 2:1 to 6:1 in the reaction between urea and the metal salt for obtaining the compound.
