PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a glaze for pottery using waste glass as a main raw material. SOLUTION: A glaze composition comprises 50-90 wt.% of waste glass, 4-18 wt.% of clay, 1-30 wt.% of frit, and 20 wt.% or less of several kinds from feldspar, silica, aluminum oxide, aluminum hydroxide, limestone, wollastonite, magnesite, magnesium hydroxide, and dolomite to be a total of 100 wt.%. The method for producing a glaze for pottery comprises grinding and mixing the glaze composition in water, wherein an organic binder such as CMC is added optionally. Further, the method for producing a glaze for pottery comprises adding to the glaze component, as a coloring component, one or more of oxides, pigments, sulphates, or carbonates of transition elements such as iron, copper, cobalt, manganese, tin, and titanium.
