The wire saw has a workpiece support for attaching one or more workpieces (7) which are to be treated and inside the support there is at least one tempering channel (14) so that a tempering agent can be passed through same at least over the area of the intended workpiece fixing. The tempering channel inlet (12) can be connected to a working medium circuit so that the working medium can also act as the tempering agent. Independent claim describes method for operating wire saw wherein the working medium, preferably drawn from a heat exchanger serving to cool same, is supplied to the tempering channel inside the workpiece support to act as tempering agent and counteract the build up of heat in the workpiece support during sawing. |
