PURPOSE:To obtain a low-toxic cariostatic agent effective in remarkably inhibiting the growth of Streptococcus mutans which is a main cariogenic bacterium and usable in the form of a dental antibacterial agent, mouth wash, etc., by using a pyrrolidine derivative as an active component. CONSTITUTION:The objective agent contains a pyrrolidine derivative of formula (A is -CH2- or -O-; n is 8-18) as an active component. The compound of formula is e.g. hexadecanoyl-pyrrolidine, tetradecyl-pyrrolidine and its hydrochloride, hexadecyl-pyrrolidine and its hydrochloride or octadecyl-pyrrolidine. It can be produced e.g. by acylating pyrrolidine with an acid chloride and the alkyl derivative of the compound can be produced by reducing the acyl derivative with a conventional reducing agent such as lithium aluminum hydride. It can be used in various forms of conventional agent such as mouth wash or cleaning agent for oral mucosa. |
