PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus where photography is hardly influenced by a shock even when using a piezoelectric element for the driving of a lens, and also to provide a lens driving method. SOLUTION: A control part 108 in the imaging apparatus to which a voltage value corresponding to magnetic force detected by a Hall element for detecting opening/closing, which is provided in a circuit 500 for detecting opening/closing of a housing, is supplied from the circuit 500 for detecting the opening/closing, compares it with a previously set threshold, so as to discriminate the opening/closing state of the housing. When recognizing that a state is changed from a closed state to an opening state or from the opening state to the closed state, the control part 108 judges there is a good possibility of the positional misalignment of the lens, and resets the position of the lens, so as to prevent the divergence of focus.
