PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction stir welding apparatus capable of preventing a rotary tool from deviating from the target joining line of members to be jointed. SOLUTION: This apparatus is a friction stir welding apparatus 1 in which a rotational driving part (second servomotor 6) for rotating the rotary tool 2, a pressurizing/driving part (first servomotor 3) for pressing the rotary tool 2 against the joining part of the members 20 to be jointed are arranged at the tip of a robot arm 10. A forcing means (camera C and a control part 9) for forcing the position of the rotary tool 2 to the target joining line 21 of the members 20 to be jointed is further provided.
