PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a constant bill pulling operation in a bill carrying unit including a bill feeding tool movably provided along a main carrying passage, and to solve occurrence of error in a bill identification device. SOLUTION: Two pairs of pulleys 1 and 1 are disposed in line along the main carrying passage S of a bill P, with an endless belt 3 laid over one pair of pulleys 1, and an endless belt 3 laid over the other pair of pulleys 1. The bill P is carried to the downstream while being between the endless belts 3 and 4. This unit comprises bill pulling passages 5 and 6 disposed adjacent the outside of the endless belts 3 and 4 and formed to be combined with the main carrying passage S on the downstream of the endless belts 3 and 4; and bill feeding tools 8A and 8B movable along the passages 5 and 5 which feed the bill passed through bill identification devices 7A and 7B to the passages 5 and 6.
