PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of sorting particles for a display medium capable of sorting only particles having a proper charge quantity as a display medium used for an information display panel and obtaining the optimum display medium by forming the display medium from the sorted particles. SOLUTION: In the method of sorting the particles for the display medium used for the information display panel wherein the display medium is transferred to display information such as an image by encapsulating the display medium between two substrates at least one of which is transparent and applying an electric field to the display medium, charged particles 13 are arranged on a particle support 11 and brought close to a charged particle catching unit 14 which is disposed in the vicinity of the particle support in a non-contact state and in which a charged particle transfer electrode 15 is disposed and only the charged particles 13-1 desirably used as the display medium are transferred and sorted on the charged particle transfer electrode side based on the difference between charge quantities of the charged particles.
