PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device having active material arranged between pixel electrodes and opposing electrodes, of which unevenness of film thickness is reduced over whole area of respective pixel areas. SOLUTION: The display device is composed of island-shaped lower electrodes 26 arranged on an array substrate 10 in matrix-shape, belt-shaped barrier ribs 24 arranged between lower electrodes 26, 26 contiguously arrayed in row-direction thereof, formed along column direction of the lower electrodes 26, a groove 34 formed along side face of the belt-shaped barrier ribs 24, active layers 30, 32 arranged on lower electrodes 26, and opposing electrodes arranged in opposition to the lower electrodes 26 with the active layers 30, 32 interposed in between.
