PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the truing start reference position of the circular-arc grinding surface of a grinding wheel using a contact detecting means. SOLUTION: This truing device of a grinding wheel includes: a contact detecting means for detecting contact between a truing tool 32 and a grinding wheel 21; a circular-arc grinding surface start reference position detecting means for detecting the truing start reference position of the circular-arc grinding surface 21b of the grinding wheel based upon a signal change of the contact detecting means when the cylindrical grinding surface 21a of the grinding wheel is trued by the relative movement of the grinding wheel and the truing tool using an X-axis direction moving means; and a synchronous control means for synchronously controlling the X-axis direction moving means and a Z-axis moving means to true the circular-arc grinding surface.
