PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seat reclining device provided with a structure for returning the seat back to a neutral position and having capability of being installed with simplicity, inexpensive costs and a slight design change and an easy assembly into a main body. SOLUTION: The seat reclining device is provided with a forward-tilting control lever 9 for shifting a reclining lock mechanism 7 to an unlocking position. When the lever 9 is operated to a forward-tilting control position, the mechanism 7 is shifted from a lock position to the unlocking position. In the device, where an energizing force of a forward-tilting means shifts the seat back to the forward-tilting position, a neutral-position returning means 10A is provided so that an unlocking lever 12 disposed in a communication system between the lever 9 and the mechanism 7 is retained in a shifting position, when the seat back is positioned in a forward-tilting side from the predetermined neutral position and that the lever 12 is not retained in a shifting position when the seat back is positioned in a backward-tilting side from the neutral position.
