<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce torque loss caused by flow resistance of lubricant in a tapered roller bearing where the lubricant flows into its inside. <P>SOLUTION: In the tapered roller bearing, an inner space of the bearing which the lubricant flows in is enlarged on an outer diameter side of a retainer 4 so that the tapered cylindrical retainer 4 retains a tapered rollers 3 in a pocket 4a on an inner diameter side of a pitch circle diameter, and therefore, plenty of lubricant is supplied to the outer diameter side of the retainer 4 in which this space is enlarged. An amount of the lubricant staying in the inside of the bearing is reduced by damming up the lubricant with a large rib 1c of an inner ring 1 so that an amount of the lubricant flowing from an inner diameter side of the retainer 4 to an inner ring 1 side is decreased.
