SULFONATED PERFLUOROCYCLOBUTANE POLYVALENT ELECTROLYTE FILM FOR FUEL CELL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvalent electrolyte film for a fuel cell and its production method wherein production cost is low and highly-qualified durability is attained.

SOLUTION: A proton exchange film obtained by (a) sulfonating a perfluorocyclobutane polymer (PFCB) with a sulfonating agent containing fumed sulfuric acid or SO3to give a sulfonated perfluorocyclobutane, and (b) molding the sulfonated perfluorocyclobutane into a proton exchange film is used. PFCB polymer may be dissolved in methylene chloride before its sulfonation.
