PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time period for detecting ejection of all the nozzles on a liquid droplet ejection section in a liquid droplet jet device such as an inkjet recorder or the like. SOLUTION: A light 113 from a light emitting device 102 is reflected by a front face 101a of a recording head to be incident on a photodetector device 103. The light is blocked by ink liquid droplets ejected from each of nozzles in a nozzle array 106, and then a voltage of a detection signal of an ejection detection sensor is changed. As the light intensity in a region through which the light passes is varied along the arrangement direction of the nozzle array 106 so that a change value of the voltage of the detection signal is varied depend on the position of the nozzle that ejects the ink liquid droplet. By using the reflected light, the change value is varied depending on the number of nozzles that eject the ink liquid droplets. When detecting the ejection, the nozzles are driven by N (an integer not smaller than 2) nozzles at every predetermined cycle Tc. Based on the change value of the voltage of the detection signal, it is judged whether or not the ink liquid droplet is ejected from each of the nozzles in each N nozzles.
