PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily crushable sintered compact of a luminous fluorophor, and to provide a luminous fluorophor powder having high luminance and excellent in productivity. SOLUTION: The fluorophor is an alkaline earth metal aluminate fluorophor activated by divalent europium having a chemical composition represented by general formula (M<SB>1-p-q</SB>Eu<SB>p</SB>Q<SB>q</SB>)O-a(Al<SB>1-m</SB>B<SB>m</SB>)<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>-b(MgO) (wherein M is at least one selected from a group consisting of Ba, Sr and Ca; Q is a co-activator and is at least one selected from a group consisting of Sc, Y, La, Ce, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb and Ln) and formed by assembling particles having a structure of higher surface Mg atomic concentration than that of calculated from whole concentration of the alminate fluorophor.
