A splice system (10) for linear connection of fishing lines (12, 14) include s a female connector (18) and a male connector (16). Each connector (18, 16) h as first (62, 40) and second (26, 52) opposite ends, a longitudinal axis (15), and a shaped exterior surface (32, 30). The first end (62) of the female connector (18) is connected to a first fishing line section (12); the second end (26) has a first opening; and the connector (18) has a raised interior feature (36). The second end (52) of the male connector (16) is connected to a second fishing line section (14); the first end (40) is configured for coaxi al insertion into the first opening of the female connector (18), and the first end (40) has a raised exterior feature (20). The connectors (18, 16) have a first relative position representing a disengaged state and a second relativ e position representing an engaged state.
