PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an estimation method of the history of a metal substance related to a metal reduced in surface thermal fluorescent quantity when not placed in the presence of moisture and increased in surface thermal fluorescent quantity in a case placed in the presence of moisture and capable of estimating whether the metal being a sample or a substance containing the same has history placed in the presence of moisture. SOLUTION: The metal, which is reduced in the surface thermal fluorescent quantity in the case placed in the presence of moisture and increased in the surface thermal fluorescent quantity when placed in the presence of moisture, is set as a target and the increase quantity of the thermal fluorescence emitted by the metal being the sample or the substance containing the same is measured and, on the basis of the increase quantity of the thermal fluorescence, the history of the metal placed in the presence of the moisture of the sample is estimated.
