PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that toner is offset to a liquid supply member to cause irregularities in an image in the conventional systems, that is, the conventional thermal fixing system is widely spread but has various problems that much power is consumed and which are pointed out, whereas a non-thermal fixing device which fixes an unfixed toner image on recording material by applying fixing solution (solvent) to the unfixed toner image and melting or swelling toner is known, and a contact type fixing solution applying method is proposed as a fixing solution supply system in an electrophotographic image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: A gap member 29 is interposed between a roller 23 functioning as a fixing solution holding member and an unfixed toner layer 22 on a recording medium 21 so as to keep a distance between them constant, whereby a direction C where the fixing solution 24 flows becomes a direction from the roller 23 toward the recording medium 21 when the roller 23 is separated from the recording medium.
