PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small vacuum carburizing furnace capable of dispensing with large-scale disassembling work of a device in maintenance including replacement of a heat insulating material in a heating chamber, and replacement of an O-ring for a vacuum seal of an intermediate door and other mechanical components, with respect to a batch type small vacuum carburizing furnace in which the quantity of carburizing processing is comparatively small. SOLUTION: A cooling chamber outlet flange 33 and a heating chamber inlet flange 6 are connected by a bolt 28 (Fig. 3) to connect a cooling chamber 2 and a heating chamber 3, the cooling chamber 2 and the heating chamber 3 are connected through an opening and closing means including a hinge 5, and can be opened and closed to each other by disconnecting the cooling chamber outlet flange 33 and the heating chamber inlet flange 6, and further the vertically-movable intermediate door 4 is mounted on the heating chamber inlet flange 6 connected with the cooling chamber outlet flange 33, through a sealing plate 29 by a bolt 31.
