A method for identifying sets of attributes in a database is described wherein a plurality of frequent attributes of the database is selected and are organized in a tree structure. For each attribute in the tree structure, a partial tree structure of the tree- structure is generated for the attribute. If the partial tree structure does not comprise multiple paths, sets of attributes are identified from the attributes of the partial tree structure. If the partial tree structure comprises multiple paths, the process is recursively repeated for the partial tree structure instead of the tree structure.
