970,959. Delivery sheets. MASSON SCOTT & CO. Ltd. Sept. 18, 1963 [Sept. 27, 1962], No. 36687/62. Heading B6H. Sheets delivered from a cutter to fast tapes 6, 8, Fig. 2, and thence to slow tapes 17, 18 are each stopped as they pass over a stopping box 8 by suction force engaging the tracking edge. Apertures 23 are connected to a source of suction or to a pressure source according to the position of a solenoid valve 31 controlled by a photo-electric detector 39, 40 through an electronic system so that each sheet is retained on the box 8 until a following sheet has overlapped it. In the event of rejected faulty sheets being switched on to an alternative path, a box is provided in each path. In another form. Fig. 6, the valve 56 is actuated by a cam 65 under control of a differential gear actuated in synchronism with the cutter; where a deflecting assembly is provided, a second opening 23a is provided, controlled by a solenoid valve 77, which may itself be controlled by a photo-electric detector, or directly from the deflecting assembly. In another form, the perforations are closed by the expansion of a flexible rubber or polyvinyl chloride pipe which is supplied with compressed air through a valve controlled by a detector and electronic circuit; in this form the nip between tapes 17 and 18, provided by rollers 20, 19 in Fig. 2, is provided by the roller 19 and a second inflatable pipe which is inflated and deflated in synchronism with the first pipe.
|
