The invention relates to a relay circuit for co-ordinating the operation of two switching systems each controlling a sequence of operations of a machine tool. Sequence control systems comprises two identical arrangements A and B of three bank stepby-step switches and plug-boards. Relays such as 4a, 5a (controlling e.g. rapid traverse advance and return) are connected to appropriate step-on plug-board PWa2 associated with bank SWa2. Limit switches on the machine such as Ea1 Ea2 are connected to corresponding steps on bank SWa3 to energize reply relay 7a when the required e.g. traverse has been made; 7al open de-energizes the control relays 4a, 5a; 7a2 releases a repeater relay 3a to de-energize the operating coil SWa to advance the selector one step. This cycle then repeats. Co-ordinating control.-Assume it is required to hold system A at step 2 until B reaches step 5. Auxiliary relays 1a 1b are plugged into contacts 2 and 5 respectively on selector banks SWa1, SWb1 When A reaches step 2, relay 1a is operated to change over contact 1a2 releasing relay 2a which completes a holding circuit for relay 3a over 2a1 down and 3a2 up, so that the selector switch is not advanced when relay 7a is energized at the completion of sequence 2. The holding circuit is maintained until system B reaches step 5 to operate relay 1b changing over contact 1b2 to re-energize relay 2a again.</p> |
