<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect double feed of paper just after dissolving paper jamming, when the paper jamming occurs in an image forming device. <P>SOLUTION: When the paper jamming occurs in an paper feeding passage of a printer device, and when paper does not lie at a paper thickness sensor position, an average thickness value AV of paper used for detecting double feed is not updated, and the as-is value is used for detecting the double feed after dissolving the paper jamming. When the paper lies at a paper thickness sensor position and is fed doubly, the measuring result of the paper thickness sensor is not used for calculating the average value AV, and previous average values AV are counted as invalid.
