Electric cable 2, Fig. 1, hose &c. connected between a fixed point and a displaceable carriage 5, Fig. 5, is supported by flexible strip 1 attached to the carriage 5 which moves along a rail 3 above the strip 1. The cable 2 is attached to the flexible strip 1 by clips 4 and in one form of the invention the strip 1 is detachably held below the rail 3 by pivoted clamps 6, Fig. 4, which are spring loaded into a position in which flanges 6a engage beneath the strip 1 but move outward to permit entry or removal of the strip either by pressure of the strip or by the operation of camming members 10 attached to the strip. The carriage 5 may have cam-like extensions 5a to open the clamps 6 for the leading end of the strip. In a modification the clamps 6 may be replaced by permanent magnets or by electromagnets the latter being switched on or off by cam means on the carriage. Rubbing strips or rollers prevent direct contact between the strip and the magnets. |
