The invention relates to a method for sealing the border or edge of cut of honeycomb boards by means of expandable synthetic material which is introduced or applied along the border, thereby filling any cavities. According to the inventive method, the edge of cut of the board to be closed is continuously or discontinuously guided across a calibration strip or a calibration rail and the expanded synthetic material is introduced into the cavity delimited by the strip or the rail from the exterior directly before the board is fed to the strip or the rail. The strip or the rail remains in a pressure contact with the edge of cut until the synthetic material is cured. An edging strip can be also used to delimit the cavity from the exterior, said edging strip forming a firm, intimate material connection with the board owing to the expanded synthetic material. |
