A base (2) has a recess accommodating a cup forming a seat to receive a stick (4) of the product. A driver moves the cup relative to the base between a stowed position of the cup in the recess and a usage position in which an applicator portion of the stick emerges from an opening of the recess. A number of separators or comb elements (8) extend along the opening of the recess and engage with the keratinous fibers e.g. eyelashes to separate and comb them simultaneously with the product and to the fibers by the applicator. An independent claim is included for the method of applying make up and beauty care for keratinous fibers.
