PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a method for manufacturing an electrode of an external electrode fluorescent lamp capable of improving productivity and increasing the hardness of an external electrode by easily forming the electrode of the fluorescent lamp used for a backlight as a light source of a flat display device or the like. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the electrode of the external electrode fluorescent lamp is provided, where the method includes: a step of performing the nickel electroless plating onto both ends of a glass tube; and a step of and then forming the electrode by dipping it into a liquid of an electrode material containing zinc and tin, or lead, after performing the nickel electroless plating.
