PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for dyeing a keratinous fiber by using oxygen; and to provide a method for dyeing the keratinous fiber. SOLUTION: The composition for dyeing the keratinous fiber contains CueO, a copper ion and an oxidation dye. The method for dyeing the keratinous fiber involves bringing the keratinous fiber into contact with the oxidation dye in the presence of the CueO and the copper ion in an oxygen-containing atmosphere.
