PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass which includes Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>but not PbO and is used for covering electrodes and can suppress the generation of silver color when used to cover a silver electrode. SOLUTION: The glass for covering electrodes includes Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>but not PbO and further includes CeO<SB>2</SB>and MnO<SB>2</SB>. The glass consists essentially of, as represented by mol%, from 25 to 60% of B<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, from 0 to 18% of SiO<SB>2</SB>, from 0 to 60% of ZnO, from 7 to 18% of MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO, from 3 to 15% of Bi<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, 0 to 10% of Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>, from 0.05 to 0.2% of CeO<SB>2</SB>and from 0.05 to 0.2% of MnO<SB>2</SB>and does not include PbO.
