PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that a preliminary feeding out means cannot be sometimes provided on a reverse paying out direction of a pickup roller as shown in a conventional separation mechanism when length in a feeding direction of paper sheets to be handled is short in the conventional separation mechanism for the paper sheets with different sizes. SOLUTION: On the pickup roller, a first high friction part is provided at a position becoming the same phase as a position of a high friction part of a feed roller at feeding of the paper sheets and a second high friction part is provided at a position not synchronizing to the high friction part of the feed roller.
