PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide particulate carbon carrying thereon fine particles of a perovskite-type double oxide, which can be used as a substitute of platinum-carrying carbon particles or metallic platinum particles currently generally used in electrode catalysts of fuel cells, or the like and with which the amount of platinum can be remarkably reduced as compared with conventional platinum-carrying carbon particles or the like; and a process for the production thereof.
SOLUTION: In the particulate carbon carrying thereon fine particles, the perovskite-type double oxide fine particles each containing a noble metal element in the crystal lattice and having a mean crystallite size of 1 to 20 nm are carried on carbon particles. The particulate carbon carrying thereon the fine particles can be produced by a process which comprises preparing a solution containing a complex ion of metals constituting the above perovskite-type double oxide, then dispersing the carbon particles in the prepared solution to make the complex ion adsorbed to the carbon particles, and subjecting the resulting carbon particles to heat treatment.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
