<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of shortening the recovery processing period of time, and to provide its control method. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 10 is provided with an image forming apparatus body 12; a toner cartridge 34 loaded to be freely attachable to the image forming apparatus body 12; a memory chip 37 provided in the toner cartridge 34 and storing information regarding the toner cartridge 34; an opening/closing sensor 20, in a first step of exchanging the toner cartridge 34 and detecting an operation for exchange of a toner cartridge 34 or other operations; a presence detecting sensor 40 in a second step of exchanging the toner cartridge 34 and detecting the exchanging operation of the toner cartridge 34; and a control part 68 controlling access to the memory chip 37, according to whether the operation of the second step is detected by the presence detecting sensor 40, when the operation of the first step is detected by the opening/closing sensor 20. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
