PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a defoaming agent which has no occurrence of cissing and has excellent product stability. SOLUTION: The emulsion type defoaming agent contains a polyoxyalkylene compound (A) silicone oil (B) and water (C). The compound (A) is represented by formula (1): R-(OA)n-OH (wherein R is a 12-30C alkyl or alkenyl group; OA is a 2-4C oxyalkylene group; n is an integer of 1-100). The silicone oil (B) has preferably 10-100,000 mm<SP>2</SP>/s viscosity at 25°C. It is preferable that the content of (A) is 0.1-50 wt.%, that of (B) is 1-98.9 wt.% and that of (C) is 1-98.9 wt.% on the basis of the total weight of the polyoxyalkylene compound (A), the silicone oil (B) and the water (C).
