PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light-emitting device capable of displaying a high definition image, its manufacturing method, and an electronic equipment that uses the light-emitting device. SOLUTION: A recessed portion D with small thickness of substrate, corresponding to a display area H, is provided on the light outgoing face M of a glass substrate GS. Since the length of optical path of light, transmitting through this recessed portion is short, the light emitted from a luminous layer 13c becomes small in the refraction and diffusion in its horizontal direction.
