PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printing head which achieves low power consumption and high-speed printing at the same time, and to provide its control method. SOLUTION: The thermal printing head includes both a plurality of driving circuits which respectively drive a plurality of heating elements, and a strobe signal generator which generates strobe signals of different timings. A part of the plurality of driving circuits are coupled for every strobe signal. A plurality of driving circuits operate by a plurality of strobe signals at the same time.
